Seen from above, the studio resembles a ping-pong table: a large rectangle divided into four equal spaces. From one end of this rectangle to the other, a thread stretches between two spaces. The studio is one of those places of metamorphosis, a chaotic place and a sanctuary. Macha Pangilinan's particular light triggers a series of portraits. The models play the same game: seated on a chair, three-quarter view, half-closed eyes enveloped in the soft northeastern light. Garance Matton evokes the geometric structure, the half-walls, the pink floor and certain objects that characterize it. Together, they capture the presence of the studio's four artists, through portraiture or more discreetly, navigating the intersection of everyday reality and metaphysical contemplation.
