POUSH Design Week. September 5 to 8, 2024.
To coincide with Paris Design Week, POUSH is staging the Stool for Thoughts exhibition, inviting designers from all horizons to take over La Coupole. This monumental and unique exhibition space, with its 2,000-m² of floor space and 10-metre high centrepiece, is the ideal vehicle for exploring territories at the crossroads of art and design.
This field of work brings together some forty artists, both guests and residents of POUSH. It encourages them to rethink notions of utility and function. Some have designed objects that are devoid of functionality, initiating a reflection on our relationship with objects and their use. Others are exploring how certain functions can emerge naturally from their work, blurring the traditional lines between art and design.
Stool for Thoughts offers a collaborative and conceptual vision of the roles of art and design, inviting the public to rethink the function of objects and to appreciate the richness of their power to interact. The exhibition allows for alternative perspectives, where each piece tells a unique story and contributes to a whole that creates its own coherence, a landscape that the public can explore, between monumental installations and discreet gestures.
