"Time perpetually bifurcates towards countless futures." Jorge Luis Borges, "The Garden of Forking Paths," Fictions.
"Taking its title from a Borges short story that presents itself as "a huge riddle or parable whose theme is time," this exhibition, curated by Raphaël Brunel, a resident curator at the POUSH think tank, brings together about forty young artists and designers captured at the precise moment when, having just graduated, they are both enriched by their journey at the school and their "countless futures."
As in Borges' story, we aim to provide access to the coexistence of all these times, emerging from a school that, rich in its multiple sectors, workshops, and meridians, emphasizes bifurcations, intersections, and transdisciplinarity: between the old and the new, art and design, individual and collective, theory, practice, and technique. As for the "countless futures" gathered here, they are not only those of the exhibited artists and designers. Considering the decorative arts' vocation to shape our living environments in their real and imaginary, visual and material, analog and digital, natural and artificial dimensions, it becomes clear that it is also about our futures – and therefore yours too."
